Listen: All My Favorite Songs by Weezer
Who would have predicted that on this day in 2021 we’d be dishing about a new release from Weezer? While I don’t remember thinking they were particularly deep in 1992 (this, my friends, is the year The Sweater Song came out), they’re out here speaking truths in their advanced age. “All My Favorite Songs” uses the same apolitical angst you know and love to paint the purgatory that is being a lefty in a capitalist world: “I love parties, but I don’t go. Then I feel bad when I stay home;” “I want to be rich but I feel guilty.” After they cycle through enough of these contradictions, you get the gist: “Everything that feels so good is bad, bad, bad.” Truer words, man. Listen here.
A Feel-Good Story
Are you one of the hip people who has ditched dairy in the last couple of years? Let me be the first to say you’re glowing. But you would never make a dietary change just for yourself, would you? You’re in it to save the cows from imprisonment on big, bad dairy farms— what an ally. Unfortunately, it turns out you don’t have to eat dairy to harm animals: the coconut milk brand Chaokoh was just majorly taken down for their abuse of— wait for it—monkey labor. Word is that the company had trained and chained monkeys, forcing them to harvest coconuts in Thailand. Now that that’s out, Costco and Target have pulled the brand from their shelves because customers are protesting and obviously retailers care about money— I mean, monkeys.
Dairy-free, the way to be
Chobani hears us loud and clear on the dairy thing and is progressively drifting out of the yogurt lane. I’m sure you’ve heard all about their oat milk (“It’s not milk— it’s *almost* milk”), and now they’re coming at us with bottled coffee. No hate if Chobani does end up owning the morning category or whatever, but it sure seems like a lot of work to stay relevant. Don’t they know you can just get a bunch of weirdos to buy your stock on the internet?
